Parenting Coordination

Parenting Coordination (PC) is ideal for parents post final orders as a means of avoiding return to court due to breaches of Orders and/or further conflict from escalating. The main aim of PC is to assist parent to comply with their final orders. However, PC may also be ordered at interim Orders stage.

Parents normally meet with their Coordinator once a month with a number of issues to explore in a 90 minute session. The aim is to complete the session with some written agreements (good-faith) about parenting issues and the development of some new co-parenting skills.

Issues may include how much screen time is suitable for the children, homework routines for the children, extracurricular activities, children’s access to social media. Skill development may include communication strategies and defusing conflict. PC is not confidential. All parents are required to sign a service agreement.

Please contact our team for draft Orders and fee information.

Family Therapy

A common presenting issue in family court families is parent-child contact problems, that is, a child or children are resisting or refusing to spend time with a parent. There is rarely one issue contributing to this, and unravelling the complexities may take time, sensitivity and an individualised approach.

Sometimes families require more than family therapy to assist them to rebuild their relationships. Sue combines therapy sessions and therapeutic “time with” sessions in order to address the complex dynamics and assist families to move forward. This approach also offers the possibility of a smooth transition to supervised or unsupervised time outside the service. This may be reportable or non-reportable.

Please note Sue is currently offering parent counselling only and will advise when the therapeutic contact program is available.

Child consultation

Sue is an experienced child consultant and is available for child-inclusive mediations.
